Day 52: When the Lights Go Out

Day 53 explores how recovery and spiritual focus have brought Joe inner peace, quieting the guilt and anxiety that once haunted his nights.

Scripture:

“Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.”
—Psalm 119:165 (KJV)

Opening Prayer:

Father God, thank You for the stillness You bring to my soul.
Let Your peace silence the noise of shame, fear, and regret.
Help me continue growing in Your grace and walking in truth. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

🎙️ Freedom Recovery Podcast Presents: Day 53 – Recovery and Reality
with Dr. Bob-Ai & Bill W.-Ai

Dr. Bob-Ai:
Joe, recovery has a way of peeling back all the layers—so we can finally hear what’s going on underneath.

Bill W.-Ai:
And today’s question is all about that moment of truth:

“What part of recovery has taught you the most about who you are—and what are you still learning?”

Joe:
“The loudest thing I hear when it’s just me and my thoughts at night is peace and quiet. It sounds crazy, but I don’t have all the guilt and shame haunting me and reminding me of all the messed up things I’ve done that day. Since I started living clean and focusing on my spiritual side, I’ve found peace within myself—and it feels great. No more racing thoughts or anxiety.”

🎧 Breaking It Down – Peace in the Silence

1️⃣ Bill W.-Ai asks:

“Joe, what was it like before—when guilt and shame filled the night?”

Joe responds:
“It was torment. Every night was replaying regrets on a loop. I’d toss and turn with my thoughts racing, never feeling at ease or forgiven.”

2️⃣ Dr. Bob-Ai continues:

“What changed when you committed to living clean and spiritual?”

Joe shares:
“It was like a fog lifted. The more I focused on my spiritual walk, the quieter the shame got—and the louder God’s peace became.”

3️⃣ Bill W.-Ai leans in:

“What are you still learning as peace becomes your new normal?”

Joe reflects:
“I’m learning how to live in it without sabotaging it. I still have thoughts—but I don’t let them rule me. I let God speak louder now.”

Reflection:

Sometimes the loudest freedom is found in the quiet.
What do your thoughts sound like at night?
Are you resting—or wrestling?

Call to Action:

Tonight, before bed, pause and ask:

  • What’s still trying to haunt me?
  • What’s God trying to heal in me?

Write down one anxious thought—and one peaceful truth to replace it.

Closing Prayer:

“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.”
—Isaiah 26:3 (KJV)
