Daily Devotional: When the Lights Go Out

Reflect on the loudest thoughts you hear when alone with yourself at night.

Scripture:

“Yet hath the LORD commanded his lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night his song shall be with me.” — Psalm 42:8 (KJV)

Devotional:

The quiet of night can be a mirror to our soul. When the lights go out and the world is still, the loudest voices are often the ones inside us. Some are comforting songs from God’s lovingkindness; others may be fears, regrets, or hopes. God promises His song will be with us even in the darkest hours. What is the loudest thing you hear when you face yourself in the night? Invite God’s peace to drown out the noise and fill you with His song.

Reflection Prompt:

When it’s just you and your thoughts at night, what’s the loudest thing you hear?

Closing Prayer:

Lord, sing Your song over my heart tonight. Quiet the fears and fill me with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Amen.

Call to Action:

Tonight, before sleep, meditate on a Psalm or hymn that brings you comfort and peace.
