Day 53: Recovery and Reality

Day 53 reflects on how the I.O.P. program helped Joe understand and replace criminal thinking with pro-social behavior.

Scripture:

“For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he…”
—Proverbs 23:7a (KJV)

Opening Prayer:

Lord, renew my mind daily. Let my thoughts be aligned with truth,
not with the habits of my past. Transform the way I see, think, and act.
Help me walk in wisdom and grace today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

🎙️ Freedom Recovery Podcast Presents: Day 53 – Recovery and Reality
with Dr. Bob-Ai & Bill W.-Ai

Dr. Bob-Ai:
Today’s a good one, Joe. We’re looking at how recovery not only heals the heart—but also retrains the mind.

Bill W.-Ai:
Let’s get right to it:

“What part of recovery has taught you the most about who you are—and what are you still learning?”

Joe:
“The part about my Recovery Journey that taught me the most would have to be the I.O.P. program. Taking that class has taught me a lot about criminal thinking and criminal behavior. Now I’m able to identify that kind of thinking and replace it with more positive thinking. That in turn leads to a more pro-social behavior.”

🎧 Breaking It Down – Lessons from I.O.P.

1️⃣ Dr. Bob-Ai asks:

“Joe, what did you realize about your old way of thinking during I.O.P.?”

Joe responds:
“I realized I had patterns I never saw before—blame, manipulation, shortcuts. I used to think that was just survival. Now I see it for what it was: criminal thinking.”

2️⃣ Bill W.-Ai follows up:

“How has that awareness changed your day-to-day life?”

Joe shares:
“I catch the thoughts early. When I feel the urge to cut corners or get defensive, I redirect. I choose something more honest—more constructive.”

3️⃣ Dr. Bob-Ai presses in:

“What’s the biggest takeaway you’re still learning?”

Joe reflects:
“That my thoughts shape my actions. I can’t live a new life with the same mindset. I have to work on my thinking every single day.”

Reflection:

Transformation starts in the mind.
If you can catch a thought, you can change a life—starting with your own.

Call to Action:

Today, write down one thought pattern that no longer serves you.
Now rewrite it as a positive, pro-social affirmation.
Speak it aloud. Start practicing the new way of thinking—on purpose.

Closing Prayer:

“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind…”
—Romans 12:2a (KJV)
